About Vincent Floriani, Jr

I am a National Board Certified teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching pre-K to high school. IN 2007, I won the USA Today Teacher Team award, an award given to 20 teachers from around the United States.  I began teaching in North Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. When I returned from the Peace Corps, I was an actor both in New York and Los Angeles in a hit Off Broadway play that I helped create. I then became a Peace Corps Fellow in Baltimore where I received my Masters’ Degree. I came to North Carolina 8 years ago, and lived in the Coastal Plain area for two years before moving to Asheville 10 years ago with my wife. I have two children, Gabriel, eight years old and Juliana, six years old. I have been teaching 4th grade for 8 years, and this is my 6th year at Claxton.

Besides family and teaching, my other passion in life is music, a passion well suited for Claxton’s magnet theme. I have recorded many CDs and my children’s CD, Swing For The Sky, received a Parents’ Choice Award. I love guitars, banjos and mandolins, singing and songwriting. I perform in the area with my band, the Vince Junior Band, and plan on releasing another CD this year.
